Irish team prevails in [URL=http://www.victan.co.uk]http://www.victan.co.uk/[/URL] top class polo display
Two days of spectacular play in the 14th international ladies polo tournament in ballyhenry, ashford with teams from australia, england and the usa culminated in a win [URL=http://www.victan.co.uk]http://www.victan.co.uk/[/URL] for the irish team on sunday, august 18.
Saturday’s dubarry day had an [URL=http://www.victan.co.uk]http://www.victan.co.uk/[/URL] unusual twist with the four teams vying for the greatest goal difference in order to win pairs of handmade polo boots.
The usa team took on australia and won with a huge margin of seven goals which the irish team, captained by local girl siobhan herbst needed to better.Playing against the english team they managed only a five goal difference so the boots went to america!
Sunday provided entertainment for all.Happy hoofs brought their small ponies for children to ride, and a bouncy castle and face painting kept the younger spectators busy.In between the two matches the east wicklow harriers gave their hounds an out of season run round the polo field and let them meet the [URL=http://www.victan.co.uk]http://www.victan.co.uk/[/URL] spectators.
Lisa murphy and gerald keane started the final match by throwing in the ball to the lined up players from the ireland and the usa.
Ireland’s horseware team claimed victory in the final seconds by six goals to5.5.A display of magnificent paso fino horses completed the day’s activities.
Lots of teddies entered the teddy bear’s picnic competition which was won by the ferris [URL=http://www.victan.co.uk]http://www.victan.co.uk/[/URL] family, whose life size teddies and their picnic impressed the judge from donegal.
